A few dollars here and there

We, the web entrepreneurs, are always seeking for ways to squeeze dollars from various corners of the internet. In some cases we might appear a little desperate, while in other cases we appear to be extremely clever. Actually, these cases overlap more often than you think.

I’ve decided to share some of the programs and systems I’m using for some petty cash. For a full list with details, have a look at my Recommended Affiliate Programs and other money making systems.

For website owners, the first thing that comes to mind is advertising. When we say advertising, we immediately think about Google Ads, but I’m happy to say that Google Adsense isn’t the only advertising solution out there for you. Google Adsense is a great system and it’s very easy to implement the various types of advertisement media (search, banners, links, feeds), but in my opinion it lacks something crucial: pay per thousand impressions. There are rumors that Google Adsense does pay CPM, but that’s the problem with Google: they’ll never tell us anything for sure! Click here to find the alternative.

Note: You do not have to cancel your Google Ads when you join another program (unless that other program requires you to, but that’s unlikely).

Furthermore, for a website to become a revenue generating entity, you could embed various referral programs. These operate on a CPA (cost per action) scheme, which means you’ll get paid when your visitors make purchases or orders. While the commissions you earn from referral ads, the turnover is much less than pay per click, or even pay per lead (in referral category, but acts like pay per click). Various referral programs or affiliate systems you can enroll in revolve around selling products and services, and the ever popular ticket booking and hotel booking. More detailed information and actual links to join are found here.

A third major kind of revenue model might not even require you to have a full blown website. Now where’s the fun in that, you think, but don’t stop reading just yet. Some of these systems are great on the side, and having an actual website could enhance profits (through referrals) from these systems. Task oriented systems actually are the most similar to our idea of real work (where you do something and get paid). Real work doesn’t sound very appealing, but it’s done mostly online, and usually the tasks are incredibly simple. Some examples you can find here include getting paid to blog about things, or helping advertisers take advantage of social media marketing.

I hope this will help you find the extra pennies (dollars and more) you’re looking for, and I wish you the best of luck.
